Hong Kong

I decided to fly to Hong Kong a little early just to make sure I was here for my flight to Chengdu.  Dad came with me and we spent 2 nights in Hong Kong.  We really just had one full day because we got in pretty late at night.  We spent the day walking around the city and the many malls that Hong Kong has. We went up to Victoria Peak which overlooks Hong Kong and Victoria Harbor.  It was an amazing view!  I'm at the airport now and dad just left on his flight home and I have about 2 hours until my flight leaves to Chengdu.  I'm supposed to be picked up in Chengdu and taken to my apartment so I can get settled in before orientation tomorrow.  I'm excited but I have no idea what to expect.  I'll try to update again once I get to Chengdu!

Studying abroad in China!

Hey guys!

I decided once again to try blogging to keep everyone updated on my travels.  I'm studying abroad in China for the fall semester in a city called Chengdu.  It's in the Sichuan province, which is located near the center of China.  I've been studying Chinese for the past year so I decided it would be good to go to China to actually learn Chinese.  I'm taking 9 credits of Chinese as well as a few other classes.  Dad and I are leaving tomorrow to fly to Hong Kong and we're going to spend 2 nights in Hong Kong and then I'm flying to Chengdu by myself and Dad will return home.  China has blocked a lot of websites like Facebook, Wikipedia and a lot of blogging sites so I'm not sure how much I'm going to be able to update.  I'm hoping I'll be able to figure out a way to update facebook and get around the Great Firewall of China but we'll see how that works.  Anyway I'm pretty excited and will be available by email either way.  My email address is katiesola@aol.com.
